Chemex 1-3 Cup Coffee Maker with Handle
From Chemex
The Chemex Coffeemaker was invented over 60 years ago by German chemist and artist, Dr. Peter Schlumbohm. The simplicity of the Chemex coffeemaker’s elegant hourglass shape has been honored for its design by many prestigious museums, including the Smithsonian, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Its functional capabilities are also world-renowned. The Chemex uses a thick paper filter that removes many of the impurities that electric makers allow to pass through, making the coffee much more pure and flavorful. It also brews directly into the serving container for simple decanting and cleaning.
This is the way to get a truly wonderful cup of coffee. Most auto drip makers don’t even come close to the perfect temperature of 195-202 degrees to extract the full flavor of the beans. By using the Chemex and water straight off the boil from the tea kettle I and not only obtain the correct temperature, I can also make sure that all the grinds are being equally saturated, something that auto drip electric coffee makers also fall short of. It takes up no counter space, looks like modern art in glass form, and the handle is so much better than their other models that require trying to grip the wooden collar. The handle stays cool to the touch.

Chemex 8 Cup Coffee Maker CM 8A
From Chemex
The machineblown coffeemaker features an hourglass design. It is flawless and made by heavy glass construction. The 8 cup coffee maker is fitted with a wood collar and leather tie.
This coffee maker is quite simply the most beautiful, functional and well thought out invention in my kitchen.
Sadly no-where in the UK officially stocks these, so, I managed to get one sent over with a large supply of filters.
The coffee is not bitter, has no “specks” and lasts for ages when placed with a wire interface on an old fashioned Silex warmer, I enjoy coffee with no milk or sugar, and I find that this coffee maker suits me well, as I suspect that drip devices etc. etc. rely on users masking the flavours with additions.
In short, this design icon should be a part of anyone’s kitchen, if I had more money, I’d start the European import business for them!

I was very satisfied with this product. I was a barista for three years and we used this same brand of brewer for our cold press. It’s easy to use and clean. It makes great iced and frozen lattes. The directions that come with the product are very easy to understand. I purchased this for my boyfriend and he loves it.

Senseo HD7810/65 1450-Watt Single-Serve Coffeemaker, Black
From Senseo
The combination of Philips unique brewing system and convenient coffee pods from Douwe Egberts ensures the best in flavor and aroma as every cup of coffee is freshly brewed. Douwe Egberts uses only 100% natural, premium coffee. The patented brewing system combines the perfect balance of water and coffee, while the 1450 watt boiler keeps the water at optimal temperature for brewing. This machine has created a coffee revolution in Europe, with over 5 million pieces sold! Unique to this machine is the velvety smooth frothy coffee layer it creates on top of each serving. See for yourself what has the sophisticated European coffee audience so excited.
Very convenient, however even after flushing it, putting the washable parts in the dishwasher, etc there was a noticeable ‘plastic’ taste for the first week. It seems to have gone away now but that was disappointing. It’s also a bit noisy but a small price to pay for the easy to use features and the speed and ease that I can now make a cup of coffee quickly with no clean-up.

Capresso 440.05 MT-500 10-Cup Electronic Coffeemaker with Thermal Carafe
From Capresso
To achieve a spectacular cup of coffee there are essential steps that need to be taken. The water must be free of chlorine taste (hence the charcoal filter), the machine must be able to brew larger or smaller amounts successfully (this one “knows” to disperse hot water more slowly when the coffee ground amount is less). The coffee must be very hot (right around 192 Degrees F, like the brew from the MT500), and kept fresh, as in a double walled stainless steel carafe with a one way valve that keeps flavor and aroma in the coffee. Now it doesn’t hurt if the machine itself is gorgeous either, or that it can output 10 cups of coffee in 8 minutes. Oh and one more thing: this is the only coffee maker in its class that has a stainless steel boiler so your coffee doesn’t ever come in contact with aluminum. Normally this type of construction, and a 1200 watt heating element are found only on commercial grade appliances.
This is the best darned coffeemaker I have ever owned & I bought it refurbished for seventy bucks off the regular price while still getting the same warranty as a brand new machine. I have owned it for 9 months now.
I have been brewing with this pot for four months now, and I have never been anything but completely pleased with its performance. The pot it replaced was another high-quality thermal carafe unit, and the MT-500 is head and shoulders superior in coffee consistency and flavor.

Braun KF510-BK AromaDeluxe 10-Cup Coffeemaker, Black
From Braun
Braun’s AromaDeluxe is a no-nonsense, easy-to-use coffeemaker for those who still prefer a basic cup of coffee. The coffeemaker brews up to 10 cups using a fast brewing method that thoroughly extracts the rich flavor and aroma from your ground coffee. The integrated Brita water filter also contributes to better-tasting coffee by screening out chlorine and other harsh minerals, plus it prevents calcification within the water tank. A marker on the top of the water tank helps you keep track of when the water filter needs to be changed. Other handy extras on the AromaDeluxe include a filter release button, which swings the detachable filter basket open for filling or easy cleaning, and a pause-and-serve feature, which stops the brewing while you pour a cup of coffee midway through a cycle. For safety, the glass carafe has a comfortable, nonslip handle with an open design to accommodate larger hands. Further safety measures include a large, red power button that is easy to see but difficult to switch on by accident. This coffeemaker is covered by a one-year limited warranty.
I don’t often write reviews but having gone through two coffee makers in quick succession before buying the Braun KF510, I thought I’d share my experience and recommend the Braun. We had had a basic Braun for years and when it finally broke down I replaced it with a DeLonghi (I looked for another basic Braun originally and couldn’t initially find one locally). It broke down after a couple months, despite good reviews. The retro-style Mr Coffee that I next bought made coffee that wasn’t hot enough for us and I returned it.

Cuisinart DCC-100 Coffee Bar Classic 10-Cup Coffeemaker, White
From Cuisinart
Cuisinart’s Coffee Bar brewing system was modeled after commercial systems, and delivers pure coffee flavor, cup after cup. The 1-4 cup setting ensures you can make a cup or two without altering the temperature or flavor of the coffee. And if you’re in a big hurry, rest assured you can grab a cup thanks to the pause and serve function.
I really like this Cuisinart coffee maker. I had received one as a gift for use at our lake cabin, and I ordered another identical for use at home.

Zojirushi EC-BD15 Fresh Brew Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker
From Zojirushi
Zojirushi Fresh Brew Coffee Maker EC-BD15 features a 1.5 liter stainless steel vacuum insulated carafe with excellent keep-warm performance for fresh tastingcoffee. Unlike other coffee makers with a burner that quickly bitters the taste of coffee, the Fresh Brew Stainless Steel Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker comes with a stainless steel thermal carafe that keeps the coffee hot for hours without altering the taste. It also features an electric timer clock module to set the coffee to complete brewing by the desired time.
I really do find this coffee maker to be of a good quality.I have had it for a few weeeks now and it makes the coffee within approximitly 3-4 minutes. It carafe keeps it hot for several hours, and it pours well.I have had many types including bunn and I find it works as well as a bunn.the part you put the coffee in instead of it just swinging open to the side it has to be lifted off on on side to make the other side swing open, thats a little inconvienent, but I also know over a period of time if it wasn’t made like that a leaking dissater could occur. So I would reccomend the coffee maker. The other draw back is its made in China I wasn’t aware of that.

AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker
From Aerobie
Forget the bitter, acidic coffee you’re used to drinking from a standard coffee press The AeroPress from Aerobie takes only 30 seconds, but makes the smoothest, best-tasting coffee that coffeereviewcom, Sunset Magazine, Vogue Magazine, Cooks Junction, and you, have ever tasted Features: Total immersion of the grounds in the water results in rapid yet robust extraction of flavor Total immersion permits extraction at a moderate temperature, resulting in a smoother brew Air pressure shortens filtering time to 20 seconds This avoids the bitterness of long processes such as drip brewing Laboratory pH testing measured Aeropress brew’s acid as less than one fifth that of regular drip brew Microfilter prevents the gritty texture of French-press methods Makes 1 to 4 cups (1 or 2 mugs) of coffee or espresso Specifications: Weight: 1 pound Dimensions: 5 x 5 x 115 inchesGlass mug not included
I probably read about 500 different reviews on this product before buying it because I could not believe that something as simple looking as this could really make a good cup of coffee. It does, it definitely does.
I have had only two cups of coffee with this so far an I am very impressed. It is as easy to use as the directions say. I am using a hazelnut flavored store-brand coffee that I ground at the store, extra fine but not espresso fine. For the first cup I made, I used the exact temperature for the water that was recommended, and a bit less coffee than it said because I thought it sounded like a lot of coffee. I also didn’t stir the water around for very long because I couldn’t quite believe it wasn’t going to make a too-strong cup of coffee. My cup was weak, but still tasty.
